Nory and her best friend Reina enter the Sage Academy for Magical Studies, where Nory’s unconventional powers land her in a class for those with wonky, or “upside-down,” magic. Undaunted, Nory sets out to prove that that upside-down magic can be just as powerful as right-side-up.

The whimsical summer adventure fantasy for kids and families is based on the New York Times-bestselling children’s book of the same name from authors Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle and Emily Jenkins, and also stars Vicki Lewis, Kyle Howard, Max Torina, Elie Samouhi, and Alison Fernandez. The One and Only Ivan is inspired by a true and beautiful story about how a mighty gorilla wins his freedom, and will be coming to Disney+ on 14 August 2020. This will probably mean it will be released 7 pm on the 14th in New Zealand.

Based on the #1 New York Times besteselling novel by Katherine Applegate, this story tells the tale of an easy-going gorilla who has spent his life performing for the crowds at a shopping mall. He rarely misses life in the jugle. In fact he hardly thinks about it at all. But everything changes when a baby elephant called Ruby arrives and Ivan realises he must find a new life for them both.

A bit late in posting this. As normal, the announced list of new arrivals for Disney+ is US Centric. This is shown by the fact that a lot of the listed new arrivals are actually already available on Disney+ in New Zealand.

For example all the new movie arrivals announced for 10 July 2020 release are already available on Disney+ in New Zealand. These include Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. So it will be interesting to see what, if any new Movies are released in New Zealand on the 10th.

17 July has Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, Lost City of Machu Picchu, and X-Men: Apocalypse listed. Of these three, only X-Men: Apocalypse is not already released on Disney+ in New Zealand, so hopefully this one will become available on the 17th, unlike X-Men: Dark Phoenix which is not yet available in New Zealand due to being featured on Neon. If not, X-Men: Apocalypse is available to purchase on DVD, Blu-ray, or UHD Blu-ray if you want to get it sooner, with the DVD and Blu-ray currently on special from MightyApe through to the end of July 2020 for NZ$10.

24 July only lists a single movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales which one again is already available in New Zealand.

31 July lists a number of new arrivals, Big Cat Games, Black Is King, Cradle of the Gods, Hidden Kingdoms of China, Hunt for the Abominable Snowman, Incredibles 2, Lost Temple of the Inca, Surviving the Mount St. Helens Disaster, and Weirdest Bestest Truest. For this list, it is only the Incredibles 2 that is already released in New Zealand, so the others should hopefully be being released on this date.

HamiltonThe Disney Company has announced that Hamilton, the 11-time-Tony Award®-, GRAMMY Award®-, Olivier Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning stage musical will be coming to Disney+ on July 3.

Hamilton is a leap forward in live capture, transporting its audience into the world of the Broadway show, a musical that tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton. The show’s music draws from hip hop, R&B, pop, soul, and traditional-style show tunes.

The show has been described as being about “America then, as told by America now”. Although Hamilton was based on historical events and people, Miranda did use some dramatic license in retelling the story.

While this has been announced as coming to Disney+ on 3 July it is not currently listed on Disney+ in New Zealand, so this date may only apply to some countries that have Disney+.
